Benoni Northerns Cricket Club developed from what was previously St Patricks Cricket Club. St Patricks Cricket Club was founded in the early 1960s by Father Ford of St Patricks Catholic Church.
The first Chairman of Benoni Northerns Cricket Club was Ray vander Wagen. In 1970 the club moved to the now current premises at Benoni Northerns Sports Club in Brodigan Street. At that stage the Club's highest league representation was at reserve league level.
Benoni Northerns Cricket Club went on to win promotion to the Premier League in 1973 and has played there ever since. The club later amalgamated with Benoni Cricket Club (who were based at Willowmoore Park) in the 1980s.
The most famous player to have been associated with Benoni Northerns Cricket Club was Denis Lindsay who played as a wicket keeper batsman for South Africa.
